PDW Fall 2017 Keynote -- Dr. Debora Scheffel

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) is excited to announce Dr. Debora Scheffel,  Dean and Professor of Education, as our keynote speaker for the Fall Professional Development Week (PDW), titled “First-Day to Finals: Full-term Engagement.”

Dr. Scheffel will shed light on how using success measures in our classroom is not only incredibly informative, it is exciting and can transform our instruction. This keynote will focus on the formal, and also the very informal, techniques we can use to assess our effectiveness in the classroom. She will highlight practical tools for immediate implementation and inspire us all.

Fall 2017 PDW

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning is proud to present Fall 2017’s Professional Development Week (PDW): Intentional Success Measures in the Classroom.

Building on the ideas and themes raised at Spring 2016’s PDW on Diversity and Inclusion, CETL is embarking on a path toward creating a more effective, responsive teaching environment at PPCC.  Our hope is to explore who we teach, how we teach, and how we know they’re learning. This Fall, we will be addressing the last piece of the puzzle: how we know they’re learning.

Registration is now open for this exciting week of activities focused on the diverse experiences everyone in our community brings to the table!  Please note that this year’s SignUpGenius is divided by day of the week; each day has a different link for easier registration. All registration links will also be location in the CETL Lib Guide for your convenience.

Our keynote speaker is Dr. Debora Scheffel, Dean and Professor of Education. She will take us on a journey to look deeply at student success measures in our very own classrooms. This is the last installment of our full-term series that began with "Snapshots" of student demographics and followed with ways to motivate and inspire students. Dr. Scheffel will now shed light on how using success measures in our classroom is not only incredibly informative, it is exciting and can transform our instruction. This keynote will focus on the formal, and also, the very informal, techniques we can use to assess our effectiveness in the classroom. She will highlight practical tools for immediate implementation and inspire us all. You will not want to miss this!

Please see the attached program for details on the many PD opportunities offered throughout the week.
