Learn about library database instruction for your classroom.

Mission of PPCC Library Instrucion

It is the mission of PPCC Library Instruction to help students achieve academic success by providing instruction that will develop critical thinking and information literacy skills and create a learning experience that will extend beyond the classroom walls.

Understanding the culture of assessment at PPCC, library instructors have reviewed the gtPathways for Information Literacy and Inquiry and Analysis and have developed curriculum that addresses some of the Student Learning Outcomes associated with each.

Teaching Philosophy

The primary goal of the instruction program is to provide students the tools needed to become critical thinkers and knowledgeable information seekers and develop these skills as they progress throughout their academic careers and beyond. Instruction is flexible to meet the needs of the class and assignment. We understand that most students have not had exposure to the research process and wish to make the learning process informational and maybe even fun.

Technology has changed the way in which people search for information. We will demonstrate the difference between "search" and "research" and how to navigate to find scholarly and reliable information. Learning this information early in an academic career can help students to achieve success.
